Churchill & Roosevelt: The Big Sleepover at the White House
2017 Marks the 75th anniversary of America’s first year in the throes of WWII. Local author James Mikel Wilson will discuss his latest book, Churchill & Roosevelt: The Big Sleepover at the White House, Gatekeeper Press, 2015.
Within two weeks of Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor, and Germany’s declaration of war against the U.S., Winston Churchill insisted on coming to Washington with his Chiefs of Staff to bond with his new ally, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Few people realize that Churchill inhabited the White House for almost three weeks. Under a shared roof, he and Roosevelt began plotting defeat of their common enemies. What they accomplished set the tone for the Allies’ eventual victory.
The Author will highlight his three years of research. Along the way, he will give you a snapshot of these two epic leaders’ gears, tears, joys, humor, passions, temperaments, and schemes.
